Directed by George Miller and starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron & Nicholas Hoult.
“What a lovely day!” What a lovely day indeed, in this post-apocalyptic Australian outback, where bands of ruffians riding improbable motor-vehicle contraptions are trying to catch you as soon as you let your guard down. This is the world of Mad Max: Fury Road, a film that’s little more than one non-stop chase sequence, and you know what? By the end of the picture, we would welcome more of it. You see, Fury Road not only reframes the whole idea of an action flick thru director George Miller’s very stylishly-inclined lens, it does so with panache and innovation that very few other actioners manage to achieve these days. All this is done with special effects, not CGI, mind you. Both Tom Hardy (Mad Max) and Charlize Theron (Imperator Furiosa) do a brilliant job of portraying their respective protagonists, despite having very little dialog to work with, which makes the fact that this movie works so well even more remarkable. Give this one a chance. You won’t regret it.
